“Kitesong” is the title of Wai Jia’s first book, published when she was 19 to raise funds and awareness for needy children in developing countries. She was inspired by the children she lived with at Sophia Girls’ Home, during a 6-week solo mission internship programme in Nepal, in 2008. Burdened by their challenges to continually move homes due to high rent, Wai Jia dreamt of a home which they could call their own. When she returned, Kitesong raised more than $110’000 for a new Home for children in Nepal. Today, some of the girls have graduated from school and even started their own families.
